Mirrors aren’t natural

BANG!  Something crashed into our back window.

BANG!  BANG!  More crashing…

A long pause.

We investigated, but found nothing.

I went grocery shopping.

Car-man sent a text – It’s a hawk! – it read.

By the time I arrived back home, the hawk had given up trying to vanquish its mirror image, and instead perched on the telephone pole and screeched angrily at it.

Two days later, the hawk still occasionally lands on the pole and screeches at our window, challenging the image to ‘come out and fight like a Hawk…’

I’m just glad it’s not hurt.
